Integrated Operation by police and District Council on Semporna resorts

SEMPORNA: The district police, together with the Semporna District Council (MDS), conducted an Integrated Operation to inspect resorts on the mainland around the district on May 15.
The operation was aimed to ensure that the premises complied with licensing conditions, operational requirements, and enforcement laws set by the authorities. Throughout the operation, a total of six (6) premises or resorts were inspected.
According to OCPD Superintendent Tan Hiap Wah, the inspection revealed several licensing and operational violations at the premises. Meanwhile, the MDS issued 15 compound fines amounting to RM10,000 in total.
During the same operation, the police arrested a 23-year-old local man suspected of possessing several exotic animals and wildlife meat without valid permission. The suspect and the seized items have been handed over to the Department of Wildlife for further investigation and action.
Tan stated that cooperation between the police, MDS, and the Department of Wildlife would continue from time to time. He also urged the public to channel any information regarding suspicious activities to the authorities.
A total of 29 officers and personnel from the district police and MDS were involved in the operation. – James Leong
