KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman has called on the people to continue strengthening unity, mutual respect and harmony during the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
In his Hari Raya Aidiladha 1447H/2026 message, he said Aidiladha carries profound lessons on sacrifice, sincerity and patience as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail.
“Indeed, sacrifice is not limited solely to the ritual of korban, but also encompasses the sacrifice of time, energy and thought for the sake of our families, society, beloved state and nation,” he said.
Musa said Sabah is fortunate to have people of various races, religions and cultures living together in peace and mutual respect, describing the diversity as a strength that must continue to be safeguarded.
He said a strong spirit of unity would become an important foundation in ensuring the continued stability and progress of the state.
He also urged the people to nurture values of love, understanding and mutual respect, while setting aside differences that could strain relations within society.
“Instead, cultivate a spirit of consensus and cooperation for a better and more prosperous future for the state,” he said.
Musa also hoped the Aidiladha celebration would further strengthen family ties and friendships within the community through the practice of visiting one another, forgiving each other and sharing sustenance with those in need.
He expressed appreciation to frontliners, security personnel, healthcare workers, civil servants and all parties who continue carrying out their responsibilities for the wellbeing of the people and the peace of the state, including during the festive season.
Musa also conveyed his appreciation to Haj pilgrims from Sabah and throughout Malaysia currently performing the pilgrimage in the Holy Land and prayed for their wellbeing and a blessed Haj.
To Muslims performing the korban ritual, he reminded them to carry out the worship sincerely and in accordance with syariah requirements.
He also advised the public to prioritise safety during the festive season, especially those travelling to their hometowns or visiting relatives.
“Make safety on the roads a priority and always exercise caution for the wellbeing of all,” he said.
Musa and his wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, also extended Hari Raya Aidiladha greetings to Muslims, especially the people of Sabah wherever they may be.
“May this year’s Aidiladha celebration bring blessings, peace and happiness to us all, while continuing to strengthen the unity and harmony of our beloved state,” he said.
