Tawau police arrest fraud suspect; Semporna police hold monthly assembly

TAWAU: Police in Tawau have arrested a 47-year-old local man in connection with a fraud investigation, while the district police in Semporna conducted their monthly assembly.
In Tawau, the suspect was apprehended on May 27 during an operation in the parking area of Kampung Melati Burut. According to OCPD ACP Jasmin Hussin, a team from the Bombalai Police Station acted on intelligence linked to a fraud case reported to the police.
The suspect was taken to the station for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing the delivery of property.
Meanwhile, in Semporna, the District Police Monthly Assembly for May 2026 was held smoothly on May 26, with personnel of various ranks and civilian staff from the Semporna District Police Headquarters taking part.
The event was officiated by OCPD Superintendent Tan Hiap Wah, who delivered a keynote address and presented certificates of appreciation to the recipients. No untoward incidents were reported. – James Leong
