KOTA KINABALU: The Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu (PCAKK) hopes to raise RM300,000 through its upcoming annual charity dinner and show featuring the Australian Bruno Mars Show.
The event will feature a high-energy performance celebrating the music, style and legacy of global superstar Bruno Mars and artistes who inspired him.
Having performed to audiences across Australia, the Australian Bruno Mars Show promises a night of music, dance and entertainment, themed “Feel the Fire, Live the Groove”.
Organising chairman Dr Mathan Rao said the annual fundraising event at the Sabah International Convention Centre on September 19 is crucial to sustaining the association’s home-based palliative care programme.
He said PCAKK provides free medical aids and equipment for patients to use at home, offering comfort while enabling families to care for their loved ones in familiar surroundings.
He added that the association supports patients with cancer, organ failure such as kidney, heart and lung diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease and stroke.
It also provides care for children with life-limiting illnesses and a support system aimed at improving quality of life.
Deputy organising chairperson Elsie Tan said the show would help sustain and strengthen PCAKK’s community services.
PCAKK president Datuk Dr Jaswant Singh said he hoped donors would come forward to support the initiative and help achieve its fundraising target.
PCAKK adviser Datuk Margaret Lim said items for auction, including paintings by local artists and a donated Omega timepiece, would further support fundraising efforts.
“We feel privileged that an item cherished by its previous owner is being passed on to help support patients and their families,” she said.
