KOTA KINABALU: The State Government will continue to strengthen its collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE) to produce knowledgeable, high-quality and competitive human capital.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the State Government remained committed to improving education infrastructure and the welfare of school communities throughout Sabah.
“This reflects our commitment to ensuring education remains a key driver of the state’s progress,” he said at the 50th Sabah and Labuan Secondary School Principals’ Education Management Convention at a hotel.
His speech was delivered by Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Isnin Aliasnih.
“The State Government also provides various educational assistance initiatives between 2021 and 2025 to ensure no Sabahan is denied access to higher education due to financial constraints,” he said.
Hajiji congratulated the Sabah Secondary School Principals’ Association (PPSMS) for organising the convention, which brought together education leaders to address the changing education landscape.
“We are aware that the leadership of school principals is a key factor in the success of education transformation.
“Knowledge sharing and cooperation are important to ensure the quality of education continues to improve.
“I also congratulate principals for their efforts in improving Sabah’s Average Grade (GPN) from the 5-point range to the 4-point range in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
“The same goes for the improvement in the 2025 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results, with a GPN of 4.85, the best academic performance recorded in Sabah to date.
“Principals and teachers on the ground are the backbone behind these achievements,” he said.
He said the convention, themed “Principals: The Implementation Catalyst of the Malaysia Education Plan (RPM) 2026-2035”, was a call for a comprehensive shift in education leadership.
“Principals are the architects of the nation’s education future. We must lead with a clear vision, drive digital innovation, strengthen students’ identity and values, and produce globally competitive human capital,” he said.
Hajiji said RPM 2026-2035 reflected the government’s commitment to strengthening the national education system and ensuring it remained relevant, competitive and focused on human development.
