KOTA KINABALU: Police are appealing for the public’s cooperation to help locate two individuals who were reported missing in two separate incidents in Kota Kinabalu and Keningau.
The first case involved a 14-year-old boy, Muhammad Muaz Furqan Hashrul, who was reported missing after not being found when his mother tried to pick him up from school.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrudin Mat Husain said the teenager’s disappearance was discovered at around 1.30pm when his mother discovered that the victim was not in the school grounds.
He said that efforts have been made to search for the victim around Inanam and obtain information from his friends, but the victim has still not been found.
“Muhammad Muaz Furqan is a student at SMK Kolombong and lives in the City Apartment area, Jalan Kionsom, Inanam.
“The victim has fair skin, a round face, thick eyebrows, small eyes and lips, and short black hair. The last clothes he was wearing were his school uniform,” he said.
In this regard, Shahrudin asked for the assistance of the public who have information on the whereabouts or discovery of the teenager to contact the Investigating Officer (AIO), Sergeant Major DK Rosmah Pg Hashim, at 011-3167 7612, or the Kota Kinabalu IPD Hotline at 088-221 191.
“Information can also be channeled to Inanam Police Station, Kota Kinabalu IPD or any nearby police station.”
“The public is advised to channel information directly to the police and not make any speculation that could affect the investigation,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, a 39-year-old man was also reported missing after leaving home on August 17.
Keningau District Police Chief, Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai, said his department received a report regarding the man’s disappearance at about 9.12 am yesterday.
He said the report was made after it was realised that the victim, identified as Bonny Subrony Kasiamus, had not yet returned home and could not be contacted until now.
“The public who have any information regarding the whereabouts of the man are asked to contact Investigating Officer, Inspector Haniff Omar Bak, at 012-684 1917, or come to any nearby police station,” he said. – Fardy Bungga
