Teenager dies after his motorcycle crashes on Jalan Kota Klias–Kampung Betandok

BEAUFORT: A teenager died after the motorcycle he was riding skidded before crashing into a guardrail in an incident on Jalan Kota Klias–Kampung Betandok, here yesterday.
In the 8.14pm incident, the 17-year-old male involved was confirmed dead by medical officers at Beaufort Hospital due to serious injuries.
Beaufort District Police Chief, Superintendent Champin Piuh said, based on initial investigations, the victim was believed to be travelling from Kampung Betandok to Kampung Kota Klias.
“It is believed that upon arriving at the scene of the incident, the victim, who was traveling on a winding road, lost control and slid to the side of the road.
“The victim who fell is believed to have hit an iron barrier on the side of the road,” he said in a statement yesterday.
According to him, further investigations are being actively carried out in accordance with Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“The public with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigating officer, Inspector Khairul Shazree Hashim at 010-2531451 or come to any nearby police station,” he said.
Meanwhile, Champin advised road users to always be careful, especially when driving on winding roads, as well as to ensure vehicles are in good condition and comply with traffic regulations. – Fardy Bungga
