The 4th Borneo Bird Run returns to Sepilok on Nov 8

SANDAKAN: After a seven-year hiatus, the Sandakan Borneo Bird Club is thrilled to revive the much-anticipated Borneo Bird Run, slated for 8 November 2026 at the iconic Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) in Sepilok.
Now in its fourth edition, the event offers a perfect blend of challenge and fun. Adrenaline junkies can push their limits on the 12km adventure route, while families and casual participants can join the crowd-favourite 2km Fancy Dress Fun Run, where standout costumes will vie for attractive prizes.
But the run is about more than just fitness. It serves a dual purpose: encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle among the local community while raising urgent awareness about environmental conservation and wildlife protection. By traversing the rainforest trails, participants get an immersive, first-hand experience of the rich biodiversity we are fighting to preserve.
Organising chairman and president of the Sandakan Borneo Bird Club, Dr. Robert Ong, revealed that the race will start and end at the RDC car park. The scenic course winds along Jalan Sepilok and Jalan Cheng Ho, circling the picturesque RDC Lake.
“This run allows the public to truly soak in the splendour of our rainforest,” said Dr. Ong. As a special bonus, all finishers are invited to explore this year’s Borneo Bird Festival, which will be held concurrently at the same venue—making it a full day of nature-inspired festivities.
Online registration is now open to the public and will close on 30 September 2026. For more details and to secure your spot, visit the official Facebook page: https://web.facebook.com/BorneoBirdRunSepilok.
