LAHAD DATU: The Sabah Marine Police uncovered an unlicensed palm kernel storage operation in a raid on an unnumbered premises along Jalan POIC here, on Sept 28.
Based on information, the Intelligence Unit of Sabah Marine Police carried out surveillance before detecting palm kernel being transferred from a trailer lorry into the premises, said Sabah Marine Police Commander ACP Ahmad Amri Abd Rahman.
The raid led to the arrest of two men, aged 54 and 35, while several others fled into nearby bushes.
Inspection of the premises found about 52 metric tonnes of palm kernel. Also seized were a trailer lorry, two tractors, and measuring equipment with its accessories. The total value of the seizure is estimated at RM709,000.
The case is being investigated under Regulation 5(1)(d) of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Regulations 2005, under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Act 1998 (Act 582). All seized items will be handed over to the MPOB Lahad Datu branch for further action.
So far in 2026, Sabah Marine Police recorded 14 cases under the Act, involving 27 arrests and total seizures worth RM9,353,701.
