SANDAKAN: A wooden house and three vehicles were destroyed in an early-morning fire at Mile 9, Jalan Labuk Lama here on Wednesday.
The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 5.26 am. The caller reported that the fire had started around 4.30 am and that the house had been completely destroyed. A fire engine was despatched to the scene, about 13 km away.
The fire engine arrived at 5.53 am with six personnel from the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station. The operation was commanded by PBK II Saidha Yulius Gerardus.
The fire destroyed a wooden house. Three vehicles were also completely destroyed before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters used one hose line and two jets extending 200 feet, with water supplied from the fire engine. The fire was brought under control at 6.11 am.
Overhaul work was then carried out to ensure there were no remaining hazards or potential sources of reignition. A final inspection was completed, and the operation ended at 7.14 am. – James Leong
