SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station swiftly contained two separate house fires in a 24-hour period, preventing casualties and limiting the spread of both blazes.
The first incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 31. Firefighters were dispatched to a single-storey bungalow in Taman Garden Villa, off Mile 6 Jalan Labuk, after receiving an emergency call at 2.22 am.
They successfully extinguished the fire, which had already consumed approximately 90 percent of the home’s structure. The operation concluded at 5.56 am following a thorough inspection to ensure no remaining hot spots.
The second fire broke out on the morning of Monday, September 1, at a double-storey terrace house at Lorong 29, Taman Mawar.
A distress call was received at 8.04 am. The fire team’s rapid response contained the blaze to the upper floor, preventing it from spreading to the lower level or adjacent homes. Operation Commander Chauslim Sunsubin reported that 50 percent of the upper floor sustained damage.
