KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans are urged to continue strengthening brotherhood and the spirit of unity by visiting one another and seeking forgiveness during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
The Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Musa Aman, stated that strong unity is the foundation of a nation’s prosperity and success.
He stressed that with close-knit unity, the people can face any challenges that arise and create holistic opportunities to improve collective well-being.
“This makes Aidilfitri a means to reinforce unity among Muslims and the community as a whole, in addition to celebrating the victory of enduring the trials and challenges of fasting with takbir, tahmid and tahdis (glorification of God).
“Aidilfitri is not just a religious celebration; it also serves as a platform to strengthen relationships and understanding among family members, neighbours, friends and the wider community.
“In this harmonious atmosphere, we should cultivate a culture of mutual respect, honesty and inclusivity, regardless of social background, ethnicity or religion,” Tun Musa said in his special Aidilfitri message for 1446H/2025M.
Tun Musa also called on Muslims to increase the practice of sharing their sustenance with those in need, such as the poor, single mothers, orphans and others.
“Sharing our blessings not only enlivens the spirit of Aidilfitri but is also a noble effort to ensure that no one is left behind in the pursuit of progress. The charitable contributions given during this festive season can help ease the burdens of those less fortunate and reflect the generosity and compassion of philanthropists towards the people of this state,” he explained.
While delivering his message, Tun Musa also reminded the public about the importance of maintaining their health throughout the Aidilfitri celebration.
“Practice healthy eating habits— avoid overeating, regulate food intake, and engage in activities that contribute positively to health, such as exercising,” he advised.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety during the festivities and avoiding any actions that could lead to harm.
“Always be cautious when driving, follow traffic rules while traveling back to your hometowns, inspect your vehicles before starting your journey, and prioritize the safety of your loved ones.
“On this blessed occasion, I urge everyone to appreciate the dedication and sacrifices of our uniformed personnel who tirelessly safeguard the safety of the people and the nation under all circumstances.
“Let us remember and honour their service by praying for their continuous protection, safety, and guidance under the mercy of Allah SWT,” he added.
Concluding his message, Tun Musa and his wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, prayed that this Aidilfitri would be celebrated joyfully and meaningfully, further strengthening bonds of kinship and unity among all citizens.
