KOTA KINABALU: More than 30,000 trade visitors and delegates from 15 countries are expected to attend the Sabah International Expo 2026 (SIE2026) from Sept 2 to 6 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
The countries include Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, Denmark, Finland, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia (Peninsular), the Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Thailand and Zambia, said MICCI Sabah chairperson Datuk Susan Chang.
The expo will feature 300 large stalls and more than 20 small kiosks for local entrepreneurs.
She said this during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at his office here yesterday.
SIE2026 is among the key initiatives planned by MICCI this year, she said.
“MICCI Sabah continues to play an active role in regional economic collaboration through the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), which represents a potential market of approximately 80 million people,” she said.
Key programmes include the 3rd BIMP-EAGA Trade, Investment and Halal Conference and the Sabah International Business Luncheon Talk 2026 (SIBLT2026), featuring Sunway founder and chairman Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah as the keynote speaker.
A welcome dinner will also be hosted by the Sabah Government.
Hajiji commended MICCI Sabah for its proactive role in supporting private-sector growth and strengthening collaboration between industry and government.
The expo will facilitate business networking, promote trade and investment opportunities, encourage industry collaboration and showcase Sabah’s economic potential to local and international stakeholders.
SIE is jointly organised by the Sabah Government through the Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET), MICCI and the Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI).
Meanwhile, Susan and organising committee members MICCI vice-chairman Matthew Loh Shin Kiet and SICC chief executive officer Datuk Dr Rosmawati Lasuki also paid a courtesy call on State Governor Tun Musa Aman to brief him on the upcoming expo.
