Back-to-School programme benefits 375 Year One students in Sungai Manila

SANDAKAN: A total of 375 Year One students from six primary schools in Sungai Manila State Constituency benefitted from a Back-to-School programme held at the Taman Cahaya Hall here.
Sungai Manila Assemblyman, Haji Hazem Mubarak Musa, said the programme received an extremely encouraging response from parents and students alike, demonstrating the need for such welfare initiatives to be continued consistently.
According to him, this programme is the second activity in a series of community programmes planned for this year, following a free haircut programme organised last week in preparation for the new school session.
“Today, we distributed school supplies to the involved students and also provided a birthday celebration cake as a token of appreciation and to enliven the atmosphere,” he said when met by the media after the programme.
He added that various other welfare programmes will continue to be implemented from time to time, including special initiatives for the upcoming Ramadan month, in line with efforts to engage with the community and ease the burden of those in need.
In a related development, Hazem also expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister for the trust placed in him with his appointment as the Chairman of Sawit Kinabalu.
He said this position is typically held by the Chief Minister himself, and therefore the appointment is a significant trust that he will shoulder with full responsibility.
“Given that Sungai Manila is a transmigration settlement area where the majority depend on the palm oil industry, I hope this role can be leveraged to assist the local community,” he said.
He informed that he will officially commence his duties next week, with a focus on ensuring Sawit Kinabalu remains a strategic state asset managed with integrity and competitiveness, ultimately benefiting the government and the people of Sabah. – James Leong
