Drug arrest in Tawau and fire in Sandakan

TAWAU: Police from the Bombalai Police Station arrested a 55-year-old local man and seized 30.41 grams of suspected syabu during an operation in Kampung Merotai Besai on June 30.
The suspect was spotted acting suspiciously near an unnumbered house and attempted to flee upon noticing the police presence. However, he was subdued after a brief scuffle. A subsequent search revealed a small plastic bag containing seven transparent packets of various sizes filled with a crystalline substance believed to be syabu.
Acting OCPD Superintendent Wilynton Enchana Watt confirmed the arrest, stating that the case is being investigated under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The suspect was taken to the Tawau District Police Headquarters for further action.
Wilynton urged the public to stay away from drug-related activities and to channel any information to the police to help curb such illicit behaviour.
