SANDAKAN: In a heartwarming display of alumni pride, SMK Convent St Cecilia welcomed back its former students from the Form 5 Class of 1973 on Saturday morning.
The visit marked a particularly special moment for Molly Lukose, who returned to Malaysia after relocating to India following her secondary education in 1973.
The delegation, comprising Molly Lukose, Veronica Chai, Puan Marie Thien, Justine Wong, and Elizabeth Chong, was accompanied by Molly’s family members – her daughter Titty and granddaughters Ria and Ruby.
School principal Chung Su Kiong led the welcoming committee, joined by Senior Assistant of Administration Chong Fui Ha, Senior Assistant of Student Affairs (HEM) Jamini Francis, and TVET Department Head Mohd Harmizie.
During their nostalgic tour, the former students revisited their old classrooms, explored the school resource centre and walked through the campus grounds, sharing laughter and memories of their formative years.
The visit highlighted the enduring bond between the institution and its alumni, demonstrating how the school’s values of camaraderie and community transcend generations.
“This homecoming isn’t just about reminiscing,” remarked one of the organizers. “It’s a living lesson for our current students about the lasting connections and school spirit that Convent St Cecilia fosters.”
The visit concluded with a group photograph capturing the joyful reunion, serving as a testament to the timeless relationships forged within the school’s walls. – James Leong
