PENAMPANG: Deputy Chief Minister III and Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick pledged to study and take appropriate action on the views and proposals put forward by the Sabah Freight Forwarders and Logistics Association (SABFFLA) to strengthen the state’s logistics sector.
He said SABFFLA members are key industry players and a major driving force in Sabah’s industrial and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“I appreciate the commitment and dedication shown by the leadership and members of SABFFLA in their efforts to improve the operational ecosystem at Sepanggar Bay Container Port.
“I have also included SABFFLA, together with other port user associations, in the Task Force for Monitoring the Implementation of the 10 Measures to Address Congestion at Sepanggar Bay Container Port, which was established in March this year,” he said.
He said this after hosting a meeting with the SABFFLA leadership led by its president, Datuk Johnson Dai.
Ewon said the association’s participation in the task force would ensure that the views of industry players are taken into account directly in efforts to improve port operations and address congestion issues.
At the same time, Ewon agreed to attend SABFFLA’s 33rd anniversary celebration on July 25 as a sign of the State Government’s commitment and support for the local logistics industry.
“I have also agreed to provide an allocation of RM50,000 to SABFFLA for the association’s development needs,” he said.
He said the State Government would continue to work closely with industry players to ensure Sabah’s logistics sector remains efficient, competitive and capable of supporting the state’s sustainable economic growth.
