SANDAKAN: Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) officers here visited the family of an e-hailing driver’s family after his passing at Rancangan Sungai Manila Peringkat 1 off Mile 12 Jalan Labuk on Wednesday.
The late Rosli Arullah, who passed away in December 2024, was an active contributor under the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) for the gig sector. During the visit, the surviving spouse, Sharifah, received a death condolence contribution of RM1,000 presented by PERKESO. This assistance was provided under the scope of Non-Work Disaster benefits within the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme.
Also present at the visit were PERKESO Sandakan Office Manager, Hajah Mariam and her officers, Libaran Parliamentary Liaison Chief cum Sungai Manila State Constituency Coordinator, Zaini Tuksun.
In its statement, PERKESO urged the public, particularly those who are self-employed or in the gig sector such as e-hailing drivers, to contribute under the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS). This is crucial to ensure they and their families receive adequate protection in the event of any misfortune. – James Leong
