Son arrested for threatening father, elderly man injured in road crash

TAWAU: Two separate incidents were reported on April 25: a man was arrested in Tawau for threatening his own father with a hammer following a family dispute, while in Semporna, an elderly man was rescued from vehicle wreckage in a road accident.
In Tawau, a 32-year-old man was detained by police after allegedly rampaging and attempting to attack his biological father with a hammer when scolded over a misunderstanding.
During the incident, the suspect reportedly acted aggressively and tried to strike his father with the hammer. However, the victim managed to dodge the attack.
Feeling that his safety was threatened, the father immediately lodged a police report at the Kalabakan Police Station to enable swift action.
According to OCPD ACP Jasmin Hussin, a team of police officers from the Tawau District Criminal Investigation Division and Kalabakan Police Station was despatched to the scene.
“Our team managed to track down and arrested the suspect in the yard of a house in Kalabakan town,” he said on Sunday.
The suspect was then brought to the police station for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
