Public invited to KKJA blood donation campaign

KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) will be organising its Annual Blood Donation Campaign on 19 July 2026.
The fifth programme organised by KKJA is aimed at helping to increase the blood supply at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE) Blood Bank and is scheduled to take place at the atrium of the ITCC Shopping Centre from 10am to 5pm.
KKJA chairman Datuk Jimmy Goh said the programme, organised in collaboration with the HQE Blood Bank, targeted the collection of 100 pints of blood.
“We hope the public will come forward to support this blood donation campaign,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Jimmy said that based on information obtained from the hospital, the blood supply at the blood bank is always at a lower level.
He said patients need blood transfusions in various situations such as accidents, injuries, thalassemia and other diseases.
“Blood banks need continuous donations from the public. Every drop of blood can save a life,” said Jimmy.
He said that as an organization that not only cares about the welfare of its members, KKJA also wants to contribute back to the community by organizing welfare programs.
He said that those who successfully donate blood will receive souvenir bags as appreciation for their noble contribution.
