SANDAKAN: A Perodua Myvi driver had a miraculous escape after his car burst into flames following an accident near Mile 13, Jalan Labuk, on Thursday.
The 34-year-old driver managed to crawl out safely after his vehicle veered off the road into nearby bushes and caught fire.
Sandakan firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call via MERS 999 at 1:38 PM. The team, stationed 13 km away, arrived promptly but could not save the car from being fully engulfed in flames.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Operations Centre confirmed that firefighters conducted a safety inspection to ensure no further risks to the public before wrapping up operations at 2:10 PM.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. – James Leong
