SANDAKAN: Dr. Arthur Chung, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests (Research and Development) at the Sabah Forestry Department, was recently presented with the Vocational Award by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu (RCKK) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to forestry research and development.
The award ceremony took place at the Forest Research Centre in Sepilok, where RCKK President Datuk George Taitim and Vocational Service Director Joshua Ho commended Dr. Chung for achieving vocational excellence and making significant advancements in his field.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Chung thanked the Rotary Club for the honour, stating that the recognition motivates him to continue his work in forest conservation and research.
The award presentation coincided with a visit by RCKK members, led by Datuk George Taitim, to the Forest Research Centre and Rainforest Discovery Centre in Sepilok last Friday. The trip was part of the club’s activities in observance of Rotary’s Environmental Month this April.
Dr Arthur Chung also assisted the late Dr Stephen Sutton (member of Rotary Club KK) for the gazettement of Kinabalu Birdwing butterfly as the State Butterfly in 2023 together with Sabah Biodiversity Centre and other relevant agencies. – James Leong
