TAWAU: A 49-year-old man was seriously injured after being slashed by his allegedly intoxicated friend in Kampung Simpang Tiga, Merotai, on April 8.
According to Deputy OCPD Supt Champin Piuh, the victim had been invited to the suspect’s house for a discussion when the attack occurred.
“The suspect, believed to be drunk, suddenly attacked the victim with a machete upon his arrival,” Supt Champin said in a statement on April 11.
The victim suffered wounds on his arm, hand, back, and body but managed to escape and seek treatment at Hospital Tawau before filing a police report.
Authorities arrested the 30-year-old suspect, an undocumented migrant, at his home at 1.15 pm on April 9 and recovered the weapon used in the assault.
Police are investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. The victim remains hospitalized for further treatment.
In Kinabatangan, the district Narcotics Crime Investigation Division and Crime Prevention Branch arrested four men for drug related offences during Ops Tapis Narkotik at Kampung Pelangi on Thursday.
OCPD Supt Ravi Duraisamy said the cases were under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (1 suspect), Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (3 suspects).
Meanwhile, Bukit Aman narcotics personnel and the Sabah Narcotics Nucleus Secretariat nabbed one suspect under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act in an operation at Mile 5, Sandakan, on April 9.
The Sandakan Narcotics Crime Investigation Division arrested one individual in the vicinity of Mile 1 1/2 for further probe under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 on April 10. – James Leong
