SANDAKAN: The 2nd edition of the Malaysia Palm Oil Expo (MAPEX 2025) officially opened at the Dewan Hakka here yesterday.
Tanjong Papat Assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung cum Sabah Development Berhad chairman, together with his secretary Liau Fui Fui, attended the event as special guests.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, Sabah Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship. This year’s expo features a total of 41 booths, showcasing the latest products, technologies, and services across the palm oil industry value chain, attracting strong interest from both local and international participants.
Poon noted that MAPEX serves as an important platform for industry networking and innovation, further enhancing Sabah’s and Malaysia’s global competitiveness in the palm oil sector. He also encouraged industry players to embrace innovation and explore new markets.
Meanwhile, Liau Fui Fui who is Jetama Water Sdn Bhd chairperson, noted that gaining insights into the latest industry trends and technologies through such exhibitions is vital for driving local industry upgrades and growth.
Following the opening, the VIP guests toured the exhibition area and engaged in fruitful exchanges with industry representatives. – James Leong
