SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Prison Department successfully concluded its two-day Firearms Training Programme (Series 1/2025) on Aug 12 at the Sabah Forestry Department’s Shooting Range and Physical Training Centre.
Organised by the prison’s Training Unit, the programme saw participation from 50 personnel across various ranks, including Deputy Director Alif Akmal Che Hashim. Also present was Welter Jaini, representing the Sandakan District Forestry Office.
The comprehensive training included firearm safety protocols and handling procedures, marksmanship fundamentals, close-range shooting exercises and team-based tactical drills.
“The programme achieved its key objectives of enhancing operational readiness, strengthening inter-agency cooperation, and reinforcing discipline among our personnel,” said a prison department spokesperson.
The training forms part of the department’s ongoing efforts to maintain high standards of professional competency among its officers. – James Leong
