Skilled youth are assets to national development – Suhaimi

SANDAKAN: Libaran MP Datuk Suhaimi Hj Nasir stated that today’s youth are the nation’s future heirs and must be equipped with knowledge, skills, and strong character.
He said this at Sunday’s launch of the Mini Youth Skills Expo (MEKAR) programme, organized by the Community Development Department (KEMAS).
He emphasized that programmes like MEKAR and Village Motivation (MODE) are crucial platforms for helping young people build self-confidence, hone their talents, and showcase their potential.
“Such programmes not only provide exposure to various skills fields but also help shape disciplined, creative, and competitive youth. Skilled youth will become valuable assets for national development,” he said.
Suhaimi, who is also UMNO Sabah Chief Information Officer and Libaran Division UMNO Chief, expressed his appreciation to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for initiating the MEKAR programme, which has a significant impact on youth development, particularly in the Libaran constituency.
He also thanked KEMAS and all parties involved in the programme and urged participants to make the most of the opportunity. – James Leong
