KUNDASANG: Incumbent Kundasang State Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, reaffirmed the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Government’s commitment to continuously develop the youth as the foundation for the state’s future progress, in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan.
He said various initiatives have been and are being implemented to strengthen human capital development so that Sabah’s youth can continue to move forward in various fields.
“Numerous initiatives have been carried out to ensure that the youth continue to advance.
“This can be seen through the provision of state education assistance in various forms such as scholarships, bursaries, education funds, equipment, and cash aid,” he said when meeting with youths from Kampung Dumpiring Bawah.
The Acting President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), said the overall aim of the educational assistance is to improve the quality of education in Sabah and ensure that more local students can pursue higher education without obstacles or financial burdens.
Dr Joachim said that aside from education, the GRS Government also pays attention to the social well-being of youth, including through the Rumah Mesra SMJ housing programme for newly-married young couples.
For that, he said caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor recently announced an additional 10 housing units in each state constituency starting next year, bringing the total to 50 units per constituency compared to 40 units this year.
“This move demonstrates the GRS Government’s concern for the needs of young people, especially young couples who wish to build their own lives,” he said.
In this regard, Dr Joachim reaffirmed his readiness to continue the existing development agenda and intensify post-17th State Election (PRN17) efforts to ensure that the prosperity of the people in Kundasang remains secure.
