Venomous snake caught at SMK Beluran dormitory

BELURAN: An uninvited “guest”—a venomous black snake approximately two metres long—caused alarm at the SMK Beluran Boys’ Dormitory on Monday night before being successfully captured by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) team.
The incident occurred when several boarding students heard screams and discovered the snake’s presence near their dormitory fence. The dormitory management immediately contacted the District APM Operations Control Centre to request assistance.
A team of Beluran APM personnel was despatched to the location to carry out the rescue operation. The black snake, estimated to be about two metres long and weighing roughly 800 grammes, was eventually secured. The entire operation was reported to have proceeded smoothly.
The Beluran APM advised the public to always remain vigilant and not take risks when encountering venomous animals. Any incidents or sightings should be reported immediately to authorities such as the APM to enable swift action to be taken, ensuring everyone’s safety. – James Leong
