PUTATAN: Six houses were reportedly destroyed by fire after they caught fire in Kampung Ketiau, here, early yesterday morning.
In the incident at around 5.30am, the quick action of the fire brigade managed to save seven other nearby houses from being burned.
Putatan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Noor Sherriyana Bohari said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 5.48am.
He said a team of personnel and officers along with machinery were immediately mobilised to the location before arriving at the location four minutes later.
“The fires involved six non-permanent and semi-permanent houses that were 100 per cent burnt.
“The extinguishing operation was carried out using several streams of water with the help of fire engines and open water sources, before the fire was successfully brought under control at 6.24am,” he said in a media statement yesterday.
According to him, the fire brigade also managed to save seven nearby houses from being burned, as well as a Proton Saga vehicle which was near the scene.
In addition, he said, no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
“So far, the cause of the incident and the amount of loss are still under investigation by the forensic team of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
“After the situation was confirmed to be safe, the extinguishing operation was completely terminated at 10.59am,” he said. – Fardy Bungga
