Semporna police arrest man for obstructing duty, seize weapons

SEMPORNA: The cops here arrested a local man on around 6.30 pm on May 22 in the vicinity of Bandar Tong Talun parking area, for obstructing them from discharging their duty during Ops Pintu.
The suspect, aged 23, who was inside a Perodua Kelisa, acted aggressively by reversing his vehicle into a police patrol car, causing minor damage to its left door.
Policemen subdued him after a brief struggle. A homemade knife, scissors, and tools believed used for housebreaking were found. The suspect has prior records for vehicle theft and drug abuse, and tested positive for methamphetamine.
“He is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code, Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958, and Section 18(e) of the Sabah Minor Offences Ordinance,” OCPD Supt Tan Hiap Wah said on May 24.
Tan urged the public to register for Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) and scan the Community Complaint QR code to report crime, drug abuse, gambling, illegal immigrants, and other unlawful activities. – James Leong
