TELUPID: A tree fell onto a container lorry following a landslide along the Telupid-Ranau road, but the driver was reported safe thanks to the swift response of the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) Telupid District.
According to APM Telupid District Officer, Lieutenant (PA) Sopihan Bin Muhammad, the emergency call was received from a member of the public at 2.32 pm on June 3.
“In response, APM Telupid personnel immediately deployed to the location at 2:48 pm to carry out rescue and clearance operations,” he said.
He added that four members were involved in the operation, using one vehicle and equipment such as chainsaws, crowbars, and machetes to remove the fallen tree that had blocked both sides of the road.
“The team successfully cleared the tree, and the road is now safe for use. Meanwhile, the container lorry driver who was trapped under the tree is in a safe condition,” said Sopihan.
The operation was concluded, and the road has been fully reopened to motorists. – James Leong
