KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Builders Association (SBA) has called on industry players to strengthen collaboration, embrace innovation and adopt sustainable practices to remain competitive amid growing challenges.
Its president, Paul Luk, said new technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), would play an important role in improving productivity and competitiveness in the construction sector.
Speaking in conjunction with the SBA’s 71st anniversary dinner, he said the association had grown into a strong and respected voice for Sabah’s construction industry over the past seven decades.
He attributed the achievement to the dedication, resilience and support of members, past and present, who had contributed significantly to the industry’s development and the state’s progress.
Luk said the anniversary theme, “71 Years of Strength, Unity and a Better Tomorrow”, reflected the importance of solidarity within the industry.
“As we move forward, we must continue to strengthen collaboration among all stakeholders while embracing innovation and sustainable practices,” he said.
He noted that the industry continued to face challenges, including rising costs, manpower shortages and regulatory complexities.
Luk said SBA would continue engaging with relevant authorities and stakeholders to advocate for a more conducive and sustainable business environment.
He also called on members to reaffirm their commitment to unity, professionalism and excellence in building a stronger future for Sabah.
Luk expressed appreciation to organising chairman Lenior Lee Fei Han and the organising committee for their efforts in making the anniversary celebration a success.
He also thanked Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam sponsors, partners and stakeholders for their continued support. – Wu Vuide
