TUARAN: Nearly 500 delegates from Malaysia and Brunei attended the 52nd Multiple District 308 Leo Forum 2026, hosted by Sabah after a hiatus of 20 years.
The forum, held from May 23 to 25, provided a platform for young leaders to develop leadership skills, build friendships, exchange ideas and strengthen their commitment to community service.
Organised by Lions Clubs International District 308-A2, the programme included leadership sessions, fellowship activities, cultural exchanges and community service initiatives.
The forum was officiated by Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.
His presence reflected the State Government’s support for youth empowerment, leadership development and volunteerism.
District Governor Dato’ Winnie Lee Siew Ping of Lions Clubs International District 308-A2 helped bring the forum back to Sabah after more than two decades.
Her efforts focused on strengthening the Leo movement and nurturing future leaders.
Leo Clubs are the official youth programme of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organisation with more than 1.4 million members worldwide.
Guided by the motto Leadership, Experience and Opportunity (LEO), Leo Clubs encourage young people to serve their communities while developing leadership, teamwork and life skills.
The forum was guided by advisors Rizawani Fiona Heng and Feliz Hu.
It was supported by the District Chairperson for Leo Clubs of District 308-A2 (Sabah and Labuan).
The organising committee was led by Leo Alexandrea Narbert, 18, of the Leo Club of Sabah Alumni.
She was assisted by a team of young Leos from Sabah and Sarawak.
Their efforts demonstrated the capability of young leaders to organise a large-scale international event.
The organisers also expressed appreciation to Majlis Belia Sabah (MBS) for its support, as well as its president Abqaree Fawwaz Abekan and secretary-general Edith Clerisa Marimo.
The forum highlighted the partnership between Lions and Leos, with Lions leaders serving as mentors and advisors.
As the forum concluded, delegates departed with stronger friendships, fresh perspectives and a renewed commitment to community service.
The event reaffirmed the shared vision of Lions and Leos to build a better future through leadership, unity and service under the motto, “We Serve”.
