State Marine Police record over RM8.7m in seizures for MPOB-related offences

LAHAD DATU: The State Marine Police, in collaboration with the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) branch in Lahad Datu, seized a large quantity of oil palm kernels valued at over RM600,000 during a raid at a premises along Jalan POIC here on Tuesday.
Several assets believed to have been used for the storage and handling of palm kernels without a valid licence were confiscated in the July 14 operation. A few workers at the premises fled upon spotting the enforcement team. The case is being investigated under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Act 1998 (Act 582).
Meanwhile, for the period from January to July 2026, the State Marine Police recorded 11 cases under the said Act, with total seizures amounting to over RM8.7 million and involving 25 arrests.
The State Marine Police said it will continue to strengthen strategic cooperation with other enforcement agencies in its efforts to combat illegal activities, thereby safeguarding the interests of the nation’s commodity industry. – James Leong
