PAHANG: This event was first introduced in 1988, marks its 37th edition this year. The ceremony was officiated by the Pahang State Unity, Tourism, and Culture Committee Chairperson, Leong Yu Man, accompanied by Tourism Pahang General Manager Nor Zahira binti Muhammad Azmi and Dato’ Sri Omar Naresh Mohan in Fraser’s Hill.
The Fraser’s Hill International Bird Race 2026 came to a close after two days of its commencement. The closing ceremony was officiated by the State Finance Officer of the Pahang State Government, Dato’ Indera Haji Fadzilla bin Haji Salleh who was accompanied by Nor Zahira binti Muhammad Azmi together accompanied by the Raub District Officer, Dato’ Mohd Khuzaidi bin Harun. MNS Vice President Jehan Bakar stood-in for the President who could not avail herself.
Participation saw a total of 110 teams consisting of 42 local teams. There were 16 student teams. A record 52 international teams comprising 156 participants hailed from Cambodia, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, United States, Venezuela, and Vietnam.
The bird photography contest also recorded the highest number of 92 entries.
During each FHIBR the first night was reserved for a sharing session. International teams were accorded the opportunity to share success stories of bird related conservation and ecotourism projects back home, and camera and optic brands highlight new products and services. The audience received positive information for their decision making.
