TAWAU: Tawau witnessed a significant leadership transition as ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh officially assumed the role of District Police Chief (OCPD) during a handover ceremony at the District Police Headquarters ( IPD Tawau) multipurpose hall on August 3.
The event was officiated by Sabah Police Commissioner CP Datuk Jauteh Dikun and attended by senior officers from the Sabah Contingent Police, along with district police chiefs from the East Coast Zone.
ACP Rosdi, who previously served as the Chief of the Sabah Contingent Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, succeeds Superintendent Wilynton Enchana Watt, who had been helming the post in an acting capacity.
In his inaugural address, ACP Rosdi expressed deep gratitude to the Sabah Police leadership for entrusting him with the role. He also paid a heartfelt tribute to his late predecessor, ACP Jasmin Hussin, acknowledging his immense contributions and the robust foundation he established at IPD Tawau.
“I will continue the legacy of excellence built by the late ACP Jasmin by further strengthening IPD Tawau, ensuring it aligns with the aspirations of the Royal Malaysia Police top leadership,” he stated.
Emphasising a team-first philosophy, ACP Rosdi stressed that an organisation’s success is never the achievement of a single leader, but rather the outcome of a cohesive team united by common goals and mutual trust. “I did not come to lead alone, but to walk alongside the entire IPD Tawau family. With God’s will, I will carry out this mandate with sincerity, integrity, and a profound sense of responsibility,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, Sabah Police Commissioner CP Datuk Jauteh extended condolences and appreciation for the late ACP Jasmin’s dedicated service, describing him as an officer of high integrity who had strengthened security and fostered close ties with the community. He also congratulated ACP Rosdi on his new appointment, expressing full confidence in his ability to uphold and advance the existing standard of excellence.
The ceremony marked a seamless leadership transition at IPD Tawau, underscoring the Royal Malaysia Police’s ongoing commitment to enhancing organisational administration, policing services, and personnel welfare—all in pursuit of ensuring continued safety, peace, and well-being for the Tawau community. – James Leong
