Two drivers escape serious injury in Kinabatangan collision

KINABATANGAN: A road accident involving two vehicles occurred about 10 KM from the town here on Aug 3. 
The emergency call was received at 4.52 pm. The crash involved a Perodua Myvi and a Proton Saga.
Initial reports indicate that the Perodua Myvi was making a U-turn from the Kampung Sungai Rotan direction heading towards Kertam when it collided with an oncoming Proton Saga traveling from the Mile 32 Check Point towards Kampung Usahajaya. 
A team of five firefighters from the Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the accident scene at 5.08 pm.
Fortunately, both drivers escaped without sustaining serious injuries. The driver of the Perodua Myvi is an Indonesian male, while the driver of the Proton Saga is a 72-year-old local man. Both were reported to be in stable condition at the scene. 
Witnesses reported that the front section of the Proton Saga caught fire shortly after the impact. However, bystanders acted quickly to extinguish the small blaze before firemen arrived. Upon reaching the location, the firefighters conducted a thorough inspection to ensure no lingering hazards remained and recorded all necessary case details.
