PENAMPANG: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III cum Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick, has called upon all Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Chairpersons in the district to unite and cooperate in successfully implementing the Penampang Development Master Plan 2024–2035.
Ewon, who is also the Member of Parliament for Penampang, stated that close cooperation among all parties—particularly the JKKK Chairpersons—is crucial to ensuring that development agendas in every village are carried out effectively.
“Over the past three years, various development projects have been and are currently being implemented in Penampang.
These include flood mitigation projects; pipe installation and water supply distribution from the Kampung Madsiang Station to SMK Kipouvo; the completed construction of the Timpango Babagon Bridge and the Sabah Native Land Survey Special Programme (PANTAS) in Kampung Togudon, which has also been completed.
“We also plan to expand the PANTAS programme to several other villages, particularly in areas with steep terrain. Furthermore, the upgrading project for Tamu Donggongon, which was previously delayed, is now nearing completion and is expected to be fully operational this year,” he said.
He made these remarks when officiating at the appointment letter presentation ceremony for JKKK Chairpersons in the Penampang parliamentary constituency—covering the Moyog and Kapayan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) areas—at the Kampung Pagansakan Inobong Hall here yesterday.
At the event, Ewon also announced his approval to channel an administrative grant of RM2,000 to each Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) body in the Penampang parliamentary constituency to help facilitate administrative matters and the implementation of activities at the village level.
According to him, the success of the Penampang Development Master Plan 2024–2035 requires the support of all leaders in the district, including the Moyog State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin, and the Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun.
Ewon stated that in addition to focusing on large-scale development projects, he is also concentrating efforts on implementing small-scale projects required by JKKK bodies and village communities.
He noted that one of the completed projects was the repair work on the Kampung Pagansakan Inobong Hall, which had previously suffered flood damage that affected the flooring and part of the building’s structure.
“With the completion of these repairs, I hope more villagers will be able to use this hall again for various community activities,” he said.
At the event, 75 JKKK Chairpersons received their letters of appointment—60 for the Moyog state constituency and 15 for the Kapayan state constituency.
Also present were the Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun; the Chairman of the Sabah Ports Authority and Moyog Assemblyman, Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin; the President of the Penampang Municipal Council, Noemi Dyena John Tren; as well as local leaders. – John Tambanan
