SANDAKAN: The Duchess of Kent Hospital (HDOK) here has expressed its full support for the Organ Donation Awareness Week campaign by introducing the symbolic “Lamp of Hope” (Lampu Harapan) to foster public awareness.
The hospital emphasised that this annual observance aims to educate the community on the true essence of organ donation—which is not merely about donating tissue, but about offering a second chance at life.
In line with the aspirations of the Ministry of Health Malaysia, HDOK is calling on the public to make their donor pledge.
“Because when we choose to give, we may just be the final hope for someone to continue living,” the organisers stated.
The campaign is scheduled to run throughout August to encourage new donor registrations in the Sandakan district. – James Leong
