SANDAKAN: Close cooperation between the community and block leaders, together with elected representatives, is among the key factors in ensuring that various issues and needs of residents in Sri Taman here are addressed effectively.
Sandakan MP Vivian Wong Shir Yee said the implementation of various programmes and community development efforts is not the work of one individual alone but requires the involvement of all parties.
She therefore praised the collective efforts of all parties in the housing estate in ensuring it remains in the best possible condition.
She said efforts carried out over the past four years also demonstrated the spirit of cooperation and harmony among Sri Taman residents.
Among the people’s issues that have been acted upon are matters concerning drains, sports courts and community facilities.
“This is our shared success, not that of one person alone, but of the entire Sri Taman community, including the block leaders and residents who have always given their cooperation,” she said.
According to her, Sri Taman also has many visionary young people who should continue to be given space to carry out positive activities, including sports.
She said this when officiating the Tamanku Sri Taman 4.0 Programme in Sri Taman here recently.
Various events filled the programme, including futsal, community sporting activities and other activities.
Also present were Sandakan Parliamentary Liaison Officer Tang Szu Ching and programme coordinator Asrul Abdul Samat, who is also an officer at the Sandakan Parliamentary People’s Service Centre.
Meanwhile, Vivian also appreciated Asrul’s role, describing him as hardworking and consistent in helping make various community activities a success over the past four years. – James Leong
