SANDAKAN: The Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (Mindet) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding assistance programmes, entrepreneurship mentoring and mini expos to rural districts across the state.
Deputy Chief Minister III and Sabah Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Datuk Ewon Benedick said the move was crucial to ensuring rural entrepreneurial communities also gain access to business development opportunities.
He said Mindet would work with entrepreneurs’ associations and community associations to implement various entrepreneurship development initiatives in these districts.
“I am committed to ensuring that assistance programmes, including mini expos and entrepreneurship mentoring programmes, can be expanded on a larger scale in rural districts,” he said.
“I will adopt a collaborative approach with entrepreneurs’ associations or community associations to ensure the success of these entrepreneurship development initiatives.”
He said this after receiving a visit from entrepreneurs from Beluran, who raised several issues and proposals to help strengthen the district’s entrepreneurial community, in Sandakan on Sept 19.
Ewon said the success stories of entrepreneurs who started small and overcame difficult challenges before achieving success should inspire other entrepreneurs.
“I also shared with them several success stories of entrepreneurs who started on a small scale, faced various challenges, but are now very successful,” he said. – James Leong
