LAHAD DATU: Two separate house fires broke out here and in Semporna yesterday, with no injuries reported in either incident.
In Lahad Datu, a two-storey wooden house at Kampung Bumiputra Silam, was destroyed on June 14. The emergency call was received at 1.38 pm, and Lahad Datu firefighters arrived at the location 23 kilometres away at 2.03 pm.
The blaze also gutted six vehicles and four motorcycles. The fire was brought under control at 2.39 pm and fully extinguished by 4.08 pm. Nine personnel from Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by three from Silam Volunteer Firemen and two policemen, responded to the scene.
In Semporna, a two-storey house at Kampung Bugaya, saw its upper floor 75% destroyed. The call came in at 11.04 am on June 13, with fire engines arriving just nine minutes later from a distance of nine kilometres.
The Semporna fire was contained by 11.26 am and operations concluded at 12.20 pm. Seven firemen, two policemen and two Sabah Electricity workers attended.
No casualties were reported in either incident. – James Leong
