BSBCC featured as the first beneficiary during Hasanah Impact Day

SANDAKAN: The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) in Sepilok has been featured as the first beneficiary during the Hasanah Impact Day held earlier this week.
“It was a true honour to be featured as the first beneficiary during the Hasanah Impact Day, under the theme -The Strength of Small: Small Efforts, Big Impact,” BSBCC founder Dr. Wong Siew Te said.
“BSBCC started small 17 years ago, with just two full-time staff, dedicated to helping the world’s smallest bear species. Today, 17 years later, we’ve created a big impact—and all of this has been possible because of your support,” Wong added.
Wong is deeply grateful to Yayasan Hasanah (Hasanah) for funding BSBCC’s project during the COVID-19 pandemic and the following few more years, when BSBCC needed help the most.
“This funding allowed BSBCC to buy food and care for the rescued sun bears. Words cannot express how thankful I am for the support from the Hasanah Foundation and the Malaysia Ministry of Finance. Their contribution has made BSBCC stronger and more impactful in helping both the bears and society,” Wong continued.
Wong also wished to extend his gratitude to other funding agencies and countless individuals worldwide who have helped make BSBCC’s dreams a reality.
Hasanah, the impact-based foundation of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah), was set up as an independent entity on 1 July 2015.
As a grant-giving organisation, Hasanah goes beyond dollars and cents to facilitate an ecosystem of transformation, working in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, infusing a spirit of advocacy and building capacity in five key focus areas: Education; Community Development; Environment; Arts and Public Spaces; and Knowledge. – James Leong
