Temporary health clinic lacks proper facilities – Suhaimi

SANDAKAN: The Mile 7 Sandakan Rural Health Clinic, which has been temporarily relocated to the hall at the Senior Citizen Home in Jalan Sibuga, is operating without adequate facilities.
Libaran Member of Parliament Datuk Suhaimi Haji Nasir visited the venue after receiving complaints on the poor conditions. He found that the air conditioning was non-functional, leaving the clinic reliant only on ceiling fans.
“The treatment area and medicine storage are kept at unsuitable temperatures,” he said.
Suhaimi, who is also UMNO Sabah’s Information Chief, has contacted the Sandakan Municipal Council president to discuss possible solutions.
“Discussions are underway on whether to relocate the temporary clinic to the Mile 8 multipurpose hall or to upgrade facilities at the current location for the comfort of patients and staff,” he explained.
He urged the government and the Health Ministry to immediately improve conditions at the temporary clinic while awaiting the completion of a new building, expected in 18 months.
“Even though this is a temporary setup, the clinic will operate here for quite some time. Proper facilities should be provided for the comfort of both patients and medical staff,” he stressed. – James Leong
