LAHAD DATU: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) continues to reinforce the presence of security forces in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESS Zone) through the implementation of the Omni Presence Operation conducted around Lahad Datu town on June 25.
The operation was carried out as part of ESSCOM’s ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with laws and regulations within the ESS Zone, while combating the presence of illegal immigrants, curbing unlawful economic activities, and enhancing public safety and order. It also served as a show of force, demonstrating ESSCOM’s firm stance against any activities that could threaten the security, economy, and well-being of communities in the area.
A total of 53 officers and personnel participated in the operation. During the enforcement activities, inspections were conducted at business premises and on 342 members of the public in and around Lahad Datu town. The operation resulted in the seizure of 75 packs of various smuggled cigarettes and 19 boxes of Aladdin matches, with an estimated total value of RM800.
ESSCOM Commander DCP Datuk Victor B. Sanjos yesterday said the operation reflects ESSCOM’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that the presence of security forces is continuously felt by the public through regular patrols, monitoring, and enforcement activities.
“Operations such as Omni Presence not only enhance public confidence in the security environment within the ESS Zone but also serve as a strong deterrent to individuals or groups intending to engage in unlawful activities. Our continuous presence provides assurance to local communities, investors, and visitors that security in the ESS Zone remains closely monitored and under control,” he said.
He added that the operation forms part of the Madani Government’s ongoing security initiatives under ESSCOM’s Operation SANGGAH, which complements existing operations conducted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM), while supporting federal and state enforcement agencies in ensuring compliance with the law.
In line with ESSCOM’s commitment of “No Day Without Operations,” DCP Victor said the agency will continue intensifying integrated operations to curb cross-border crimes and maintain peace, security, and public order throughout Eastern Sabah. Members of the public are encouraged to report any security-related incidents in the ESS Zone to the ESSCOM Operations Centre at 089-863181 or via WhatsApp at 011-63311072.

Security forces personnel attend a briefing prior to the commencement of the operation in Lahad Datu.
