TAWAU: Chief of Army General Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, officiated the opening ceremony of the Tambulanan Post here on Friday.
The strategically positioned Tambulanan Post will reinforce the Malaysian Army’s (TDM) forward presence in the region, serving as a buffer zone and a power projection platform for security operations. Construction of the post, which began in September 2023, runs concurrently with the development of the Brantian Farm Post, also in Tawau.
Both posts are expected to be fully completed by 2025.
This initiative follows the successful completion of the Felda Selatan Post in Kalabakan last year, which was also inaugurated by Muhammad Hafizuddeain on 30 December 2024 and is now fully operational.
In line with TDM’s Future Force vision, the Tambulanan Post integrates cutting-edge surveillance technology, including an integrated tactical communication system for operational coordination, drone surveillance platforms, and an autonomous solar energy system for sustained operations.
The expansion of TDM’s strategic presence in Sabah also includes the development of four security posts on Sebatik Island, approved by the National Security Council (MKN), with one post in Sungai Kuning set to become TDM’s Forward Operations Base.
During the ceremony, Muhammad Hafizuddeain also planted a tree to commemorate the historic occasion and presented festive gift packs to officers and personnel stationed at the post, demonstrating TDM leadership’s commitment to their welfare. Senior TDM officers were also in attendance.
Also present was Eastern Field Army Commander, Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi.
