GOF BN 17 conducts Close Quarter Battle Training Series 2/2026

LAHAD DATU: Personnel of the General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 17 continue to demonstrate high fighting spirit and unwavering discipline, successfully carrying out the Close Quarter Battle (CQB) In-Service Training (LDP) Series 2/2026 on May 16, the fourth day of the session.
Held at the Tiger Standby Room, the training was aimed to enhance tactical skills in close-quarter combat, ensuring every movement is executed swiftly, precisely, and effectively in real operational situations.
The day began at 6.00 am with a physical training (PT) session to ensure personnel maintain optimal fitness levels, ready to face any operational challenges in the field.
The training continued with an introductory class on the Tactical Holding Area (THA), Forming Up Point (FUP), and Final Assault Position (FAP). Participants were also exposed to tactical movement techniques and drills from the FUP to the FAP in an orderly manner. Additionally, room combat drills—covering both single-room and double-room scenarios—were conducted to improve efficiency in high-risk, confined-space operations.
Personnel received instruction in sniper fundamentals, as well as proper pistol control and grip techniques to promote professional and safe weapon handling. The training also included pistol live-fire exercises, rapid and efficient M4 magazine change drills, and concluded with sniper rifle zeroing exercises.
Under the supervision of Chief Instructor SI Raibon John and Kpl Harfizan Bin Ahmad Jasmin, along with a team of instructors from VAT 69 Komando, a total of 73 participants demonstrated commitment, teamwork, and a high level of discipline throughout the intensive session, which ran from 6.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Overall, the fourth day of training proceeded smoothly, safely, and systematically, once again proving the readiness and professionalism of GOF Battalion 17 personnel in enhancing the force’s tactical capabilities. – James Leong
