Sandakan Health Clinic Family Day 2025 fosters spirit of health and togetherness

SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Health Clinic (KKS) successfully organised the vibrant “KKS Family Day 2025” last Sunday, themed “Let’s Build a Healthy Family, KKS: Relaxed and Connected”.
Held at the clinic premises from 7.00 am to 2.00 pm, the programme saw enthusiastic participation from 100 adults and 75 children, bringing together clinic staff, their families, and members of the local community in a warm and festive atmosphere.
The activities commenced with an invigorating aerobic session to promote an active lifestyle, followed by a series of fun-filled games during the field events. The “Gingerbread Man” team emerged as the overall champion of the games.
Key highlights of the event included a Farewell Ceremony for several staff members who will be going on transfer, followed by Christmas carolling and a gift exchange, adding to the celebratory cheer of the season.
Several exhibition booths were also set up by community partners such as Bee Choo Origin Sandakan, Tupperware Bandar Maju, and GPLEX Realty, offering various information and products to attendees.
The Opening Ceremony began with a welcome address by KKS Pharmacy Unit’s Joe Quah, the Programme Coordinator. This was followed by an opening speech by Dr. Suhashini a/p Sivasegaran, Family Health Specialist of KKS, who emphasised the importance of strong family bonds as the foundation of a healthy society.
The event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Jackson Wong, the Sandakan District Health Officer. In his speech, he congratulated the organisers and expressed hope that such programmes would continue to serve as a platform for strengthening the relationship between healthcare workers and the community they serve.
“Today’s programme is not merely a recreational activity, but an investment in our holistic well-being. Good health begins with a happy and supportive family,” stated Dr. Wong.
