SANDAKAN: The SJK (C) Chi Hwa Scout Unit successfully organised the 2026 Keris Gangsa and Keris Perak One-Day Scout Camp on Sept 12.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the assessments, the Scout Headquarters sent 15 scout leaders to the school to conduct the assessments and provide guidance to the scouts.
The school principal was also present to show support and encouragement to the scouts, and joined the scout leaders, teachers and pupils during the closing ceremony.
After a full day of learning, practical activities and assessments, 35 scouts successfully earned the Lencana Keris Gangsa, while 26 scouts earned the Lencana Keris Perak.
The school also expressed its sincere appreciation to Mohd Sofiee Ag Basrih, Zone 1 Sandakan Commissioner, and Barmuli Parudin, State Assistant Commissioner (Global Initiative), for taking the time to attend, support and officiate at the closing ceremony of the camp.
In his speech, Barmuli highlighted that the Scout Unit of SJKC Chi Hwa is one of the scout units in Sandakan that actively conducts activities in accordance with the Scout Guidelines. He also commended the school for successfully nurturing many scouts who have earned the Rambu Pengakap Kanak-kanak, and encouraged the scouts to continue learning, embrace challenges and uphold the spirit of teamwork and leadership in all their activities.
The one-day camp not only provided the scouts with an opportunity to complete their badge assessments, but also helped develop their discipline, sense of responsibility, teamwork and confidence, making it a meaningful and memorable experience in their scouting journey. – James Leong
