PAPAR: Life took a hard turn after the Covid-19 pandemic, with many villagers struggling financially to make ends meet.
Recognising this, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Melati Sabah (Melati) introduced a facial acupressure therapy, or totok wajah, not just a beauty treatment but as a path to healing for both men and women alike.
Melati president Linda Dunstan sees the initiative as more than just a wellness programme.
“Since the pandemic, life has become more fragile. People are facing increasing stress and health challenges.
“Facial acupressure therapy helps relieve tension, improves facial nerves, and can even prevent conditions like Bell’s palsy,” she said.
Linda expressed hope that women, especially, will have equal access to opportunities and resources.
“A skill like this can help them generate income while improving their well-being,” she explained.
The workshop was supported by JKKK Limbahau chairman, William Charles, and Denny Vitus, representing Limbahau Assemblyman, Datuk Juil Nuantim.
They believe that small initiatives like this can create ripples of change—better health, stronger families, and a more resilient community.
The organisers hope this is just the beginning, with more programmes like this reaching rural communities.
